Technical writing is a very important skill to know in today's job market. Many jobs require writing resumes, reports, proposals, letters and memos. One of the most important things about technical writing is learning to understand and write to your audience.

Know Your Audience

Before you begin writing you should always consider your audience. You should ask yourself these questions.

1.  What is their level of education?
2.  How would they use your instructions?
3.  How many times will they read your work?
4.  Where would they be when they read it?

These questions will help you determine the organization, content and format of your paper.
